let me take you on an ADVENTURE of ridiculousness & fabulousness....
WHERE: at the MoMa (museum of modern art) in San Francisco
~me and my mom took a one hour break to go look around~
get ready to see what we saw!
things i saw that I took pictures of to show you....
FABULOUS
weird sculpture of a golden, Michael Jackson, with a monkey....
kinda DISTURBING, but really something about it kinda scared me, and I don't know why...ha ha ha
(and I love me some Michael)
FABULOUS: a photo of Marilyn Monroe by just someone standing near the shoot, of her famous, skirt blowing up shot!
FABULOUSLY RIDICULOUS: that they were selling 1 dollar bills for 99 cents...and they said they'd almost sold out of them that day! ha ha ha...I love this!
this one is a little more on the RIDICULOUS side: you could buy 7 pennies for $1.99! ha ha ha
the view looking up
and moving our eyes a little more down....
and I'm in the SPOTLIGHT: A FABULOUS feeling (and weirdly it's kinda Michael Jackson-ish, black hat, spotlight...ha ha ha)
Spotlights sensors pick up movement and follow you where ever you walk in the lobby...so fun-ny!
RIDICULOUS: NO FABULOUS: YES
The fact that it took me 2 hours to upload these photos and type this blog: sort of RIDICULOUS....ha ha ha ha....so i hope you think it's FABULOUS!
bringing a little dose of:
your kandee......
(PS. to see a little more ridiculousness, but I think it's fabulous, click here: www.kandeeland.com)
this one one of my favy things I saw at the MOMA (museum of modern art) in New York... I loved the bright white, dishes that were in pristine condition....well, right before they got shattered! The explosion of broken dishes and spoons, forks, and butter knifes..flying outward in an explosive, bursting...and this bright beautiful lights...glowing so beautifully from the very heart of the piece....was stunning!
I thought about this as I read something this morning... sometimes the most beautiful, peaceful moments....are ones that are found in the middle of "life's explosions".... It really isn't a sign of peace, when everything is always perfect and calm.... I think real peace, is when our emotions do feel like little bombs are going off, our happiness is exploding right before our eyes, by circumstances...but while everything feels like chaos and craziness.....we are the bright beautiful, glowing light of peace, while all the "dishes" are blasting apart around us. I have been in some "dish breaking" moments in my life..but the most amazing times, were when I felt peace in my heart, even when it didn't seem like I should....
If it feels like your world is falling apart, that "dishes" and/or emotions are exploding all around you... this is the time, when a storm of troubles may be "hurricaning" around you, but you can be safely covered in a big umbrella of safety and peace...the big arms of God can come down and wrap you and your heart up, in a safe place for your mind and heart to rest.
Our lives will never be free from every trouble or pain...after all, this isn't called heaven...ha ha ha But we can rest in the fact that I've been in some situations where I should have been incredibly upset, crying, very un-peaceful, but in the middle of it, I wasn't....I had peace in my heart, a peace that doesn't make sense to people....sometimes it helps if we stop thinking about how hard our situation is....and focus in the peace that we can have...our hope of getting out of the "trouble-time"....and not worrying one bit about what's going on. There isn't one situation..where freaking out or worrying about something is going to help!
this is one of my favorite verses....(not to get all Bible-y on you...but some of the greatest quotes, even the song "Turn! Turn! Turn! from the Byrds is straight up verses from the Bible!)
Do not let your hearts be troubled, and don't let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.] —John 14:27
I hope that whatever you are going through...no that each one of us is dealing with "broken dishes" right now..and if not right now, we probably just got through a "dish exploding experience"...we are all in this together! We can all band together and with our encouraging and loving words!
I am sending big hugs...and hopefully some new "mental sunglasses" that will allow you to see the beautiful glowing light, coming from the center of the "exploding dishes"...remember, don't focus on the "pieces of dishes" flying around...but on the soft and beautiful light of peace shing on your heart!
huge love all my precious hearts.....typed with love and peace for your day...kandee
I love this song...it makes my want to dance my cares away...and feel sunshine on my heart....I want to sit on the beach and hear the ocean....see palm trees dancing in the breeze...and my heart glowing....
Please keep all hands and arms inside the blog while we are going on our trip.... and we are so glad you chose to travel with us Kandee AdventureLand.... our first stop is the MOMA: Museum of Modern Art in New York City
guess who else will be meeting us there? look where we're going!!!! (this is my friend Ian, standing in front of the museum....I didn't know where we were walking to....but he lead us here...I was so excited! Ian is: a) my friend b) an amazing photographer (I've driven by billboards of his work) and he has taken the really cool pictures you see of lil' ol' me (I'm always honored when he takes my picture)...see his stuff here ....www.ianruhter.blogspot.com and he let me use his "way-better-than-mine" point and shoot camera to take pictures in there (thanks homie!) this was me (clad in the red "super woman boots", and fedora...taking pictures with my iphone, before Ian let me use his "waaaaaaaay better canon camera"....)..look at all the junk I'm holding....huge-o purse....folder thing....."oh yeah, I got to go meet with one of the nicest producer's in the world on the Rachel Ray show...that's why I have my little folder...she even came to my Glaminar (my make-up classes)...she was awesome! Hi Jill!" this was the very first thing that I wanted to take a picture of....It is a chandelier of EXPLODING plates, cups, pitchers, forks, spoons.....it is like seeing a still shot of all this clean white, "dishery" bursting.....this was one of my favorites! Marilyn Monroe was there too!!! Eternal style icon... (I love that she's eating a cheeseburger!)I also love that she mostly did her own hair and make-up...I researched all her techniques and products she used...I even did a little video...if you wanna watch it...CLICK ON THIS classic Marilyn Monroe Halter dress...look at those eyebrows...and people make comments about mine! ha ha ha ha oh I love these.....this is the handiwork of Richard Avedon, his photography is still so fresh and interesting...I love the curve of her body and the movement you can feel just looking at it! and now we have the timeless beauty, Bridget Bardot, talk about a sexpot! (I need to do a tutorial on her make-up!) I don't remember who shot this..but I LOVED her make-up (and hair)...love it!!! Reminds me of pics from the 60's of my Nana's (she was a hairdresser) hair and make-up... oh..the colors just jumped into your eyeballs and danced around with your mind...Do you see the face hidden in it! I absolutely LOVE this...I would hang this in my living room in nanosecond! I love this chandelier....I couldn't capture it...but somehow words spiraled down it in lights...so cool.....It could say "goodnight" right above my bed...ha ha haYou can see the silhouettes of all the modern chairs that were sitting outside that screen, on all different levels. cool fluorescent tubes shaped like a NY building (want this in my housey!) for some reason I found the "butterfly wire"...not barbed wire...kinda interesting...it looks like wrapping paper decoration instead of the usual "coiled around a prison" thing you normally think of! the view looking down from the 4th floor..whoa! (see my red boot in the lower left corner?) This is so Flintstone's meets DJ....I love the concrete turntable with the rusty metal, mesh, sticking out....how cool and industrial would that be on your table!?! the view from one of the side of the MOMA...look at all the awesome buildings! I love NY! Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night!!! I actually saw it!!! Well there were too many people standing in the way taking pics so I couldn't get close enough to see brush strokes...(I didn't take this pic...I copied and pasted it...I couldn't even get close enough to take a picture!) If this doesn't say "Kandee loved color like this"...I don't know what does? I can't remember who painted this...but I LOVE IT!
I even saw painting by one of my fav artists, Kandinsky (yeah and not just cuz' both of our names start with "Kand"....ha ha ha) There were so many paintings to see... and just so everyone knows...this was the "all-time-longest-time-taking-blog-post", I've ever done....this sucker has taken me almost 2 1/2 hours to get all these pictures on here and type! (we could've flown half way to NY from LA by now...ha ha ha ha) Hope you enjoyed our "trip" today.... Please come back tomorrow for more adventures....I'll save you a seat!!! Thanks you for flying in thought, with KandeeAdventureLand Air! We love you!
