Huge Mistake & View of My Kitchen Table

If you were hanging out with me in my kitchen this morning, this is what you'd see:
A vast array of hair lightening and toning tubes and packets.

Let me start of by saying, life is full of mistakes. Anyone who thinks they live a mistake-free life, is living in Crazyville, because we all make mistakes, most usually on a daily or hourly basis. I'm cool with it. I've come to embrace each mistake, because some of my mistakes have actually been the very reason that because of those mistakes, I went a different route, had to fix or change something, and because of it, the result was something awesome!

Well, here is mistake of the day #1
My hair: pardon the poopy picture, but that's what you get when you are trying to take a selfie of the back of your head.
I could try to tell you this is some cutting edge, new hair style, maybe call it the "HACK-CHOP", but it's not. This is what happens when you are in a hurry, and think you don't need a mirror and can chop the back of your hair, purely by feel, in about 2 minutes before you are racing out the door! It had, BAD IDEA, all over it before I even grabbed my shears. I know better, but I told that "you know better voice", to pipe down...and all because I did, this is what the back of my head looks like!

SIDE NOTE: I've been cutting my own hair for years, and every short cut I've had, I carved and sliced myself about 95% of the time.  I've cut myself the best side swept bangs I've ever had! I've given myself most ALL of my favorite haircuts, except for this bomb of a hair attempt!

LESSON LEARNED:
*Don't ever cut your hair without a mirror. (I already knew that one too!)
*Don't ever cut your hair when you have only 2 minutes to do it before you need to leave the house.

Well, yours truly, made an appt to get the back of my hair fixed this afternoon. I have no idea what my hair will look like or how short it will be, but I'll show ya later! I get super nervous going to  anyone to cut my hair, because I'd rather mess up my own hair myself! ha ha
So before I head out with a phone full of pictures I can show the hairstylist, in hopes of turning this "mistake" into a "miss-awesome-hair-do"...I needed to get my roots in check. So, that's why I'm typing this with toner on my hair, and this is perfect timing because it's just about time to rinse this off!

I will never make a tutorial for this hair-catastrophe, but I will show you the after later...I hope it look good! Especially since I will be going to co-host, Battle Of The Strands, a huge hair and make-up competion this weekend in Vegas! If you're going, you can see my new and hopefully awesome hair do! ha ha ha

Huge hugs and if you've made a mistake, from hair cut to something bigger, just know that's life, we all make mistakes. We learn from our mistakes, we get stronger from our mistakes, and sometime because of those mistakes, we are redirected to a path  or re-doing something that's even better than if we did it all right from the get go!

Huge hugs and so much love from me, your homegirl, Kandee

And if you want to see that awesome video on How To Cut Side Swept Bangs- this is easy, especially since you see the front of your hair (just look into the mirror, unlike I did with this hair mess):

So you're gonna say something about how I dress:

I would like to show you 2 pictures, of yours truly, from over the weekend.  If you don't read my other blog, KANDEELAND (where you might have read about our weekend), I was at my lil' guys BMX race. IT was hot, and dusty, and did I say hot already?

As you can see, I was a big fan of the cut off t-shirt, because, again, it was HOT! ha ha ha
You might also notice, I am a huge fan of the gold chain arms on my sunglasses, note they are 2 different pairs...
one pair broke, but it's ok, they only cost me like $9! That's how I try to roll with sunglasses...

There was too much sweat on my forehead for this picture...ha ha ha
I cut the back of my hair without looking, and it looks bad...so I slapped a hat on all weekend.
Well I posted a pic like this on twitter, and I'm used to getting hate, but this one person's quote, really made me want to write something to encourage anyone who gets this kind of comments or opinons from people online or in your life...
So here's the comment, I've blocked out her name so she doesn't get any hate, because I don't wish that on her, I just hope more people are inspired to love people and how their individual style and not use rude, small minded, judgement when they look at others.

As you can see, this woman's comment was not filled with kindness or constructive criticism, she was trying to be rude and unkind...you don't use the word "pathetic", unnless you're trying to be hurtful or just rude.

To this woman, and to all "fashion-judgmental" people in the world....I say:
There are NO RULES when it comes to fashion. ANYONE can dress however they want.
Any young person can dress as "old lady" or "old man" and they want, and any "old" person can dress as fun as they want too!
I am not wearing anything with my boobs hanging out or my rear end hanging out. I am also not a teenager wannabe, since I was already a teenager, that would make me a "WASABE". I don't want to be a teenager again, at all. I do want to be someone who is independent, has their own style, wears what I like and what makes me feel confident. I have been dressing in what I love and what makes me happy since I was a kid and that's not gonna change.

Their are no rules for age on how you need to dress. People that make up rules for silly things like how you dress, should spend more of their precious time on things that are far more important, than concerning themselves with how others are dressed.

No one needs to wear "mom jeans" just because they are moms. And the silly thing is, those high waisted mom jeans are the very jeans that became popular that teenagers were wearing, cutting into short and stuff, and you'll never catch me in a pair of those babies either! ha ha ha

FASHION FREEDOM:
As long as you aren't wearing clothes revealing too much body parts. As long as you are classy and covering up what should be kept private, than I don't care how you dress, the color of fabric, the layers, the style, the decade it's from or ANYTHING! I support, cheer on, and compliment people of all ages on ALL styles of their dress. I don't need it to be MY style to appreciate it! Part of being open minded and loving ALL different people and their styles, is loving the differences and appreciate them for taking a step to be an INDIVIDUAL and not just blending in with the pack for fear of being made fun of.

I got tons of people coming up and saying they loved my style and or outfit and hat. And this one woman's comment, just made me feel bad, because I know other people deal with people like her leaving them comments online!

STOP HATING on STUPID things like people's style, hair, etc....and START having an open heart and mind, and looking for something you love, even if it's just someone's bravery and confidence for wearing a style you might not ever sport.

Fashion is just a fun way of getting dressed in whatever creative way you want to. It can be thrift store finds, crazy neon colors, brightly colored hair, or like you live in 1985...fashion should be fun and should be all about what YOU love, not what anyone else loves!

I've dressed like a tomboy all through high school, I wore baggy pants, doc martens, birkenstocks, wore vans, I wore thrift store treasures from the 60's, and then I wore knee high socks and dresses. I didn't care that I got made fun of then, and it just makes me upset that as adults, people are still trying to leave a little rudeness for others unique style!

You go out and rock your style, whatever it is- if it's mom jeans, wear em proud, if it's boyfriend jeans, wear em confidently...and if I see 90 year old with hot pink hair: YOU CAN BET YOUR EYEBROWS, I'M NOT GONNA TELL HER TO DRESS MORE LIKE HER AGE....I'M GONNA SAY:
YOU ARE AWESOME! AND I HOPE TO BE AS AWESOME AS YOU WHEN I'M YOUR AGE!

Whatever you age or style, I think you're awesome no matter how you dress or wear your hair! I love people for their hearts not their hairdo or outfit!

Huge hugs from your friend, Kandee

Beauty, Beards, Boy Looks and Me

I instagrammed this, because I wanted to show everyone, this is how I look most every morning...a little bit like a boy. Maybe with my hoodie on I look like a"thug boy", but that is how I roll out.  Although I'm known for make-up and beauty-ness, I think that real beauty shines from the heart, not the face or the "make-up"! Someone can have an inch of make-up on your face and if your heart and attitude aren't beautiful, than your just like an old Cowboy town on a movie set with a fake front, but nothing really there behind the fake-ness. Let your beauty shine, so much that it can be felt in a dark room.

And now, since it seems to fit the theme...
This is me with a beard on!

I wanted to do a super fun costume tutorial for you guys...so last night I busted out my spirit gum, scissors, was cutting up beard wigs, and getting ready to show you a DUCK DYNASTY tutorial! You guys are going to love it, it was just cracking me up filming it! I still have to edit it, but it will be up hopefully on Sunday! We'll see how fast I can edit!

And here's what you guys will get to see me doing, it's "hair-larious"...and I mean hair was getting in my mouth, it was so fun to make this! I can't wait for you guys to see it!

I tried to tone down the color with a filter, so when you guys see it in full color in the video , it will look that much more fun!!!

Huge hugs and beards, your girl, I promise, a girl, but you wouldn't know that from either of these pictures, ha ha ha, Kandee

Hunger Games: Catching Fire Make-Up Tutorial & Nail

What screams FUTURE, like a twist from the PAST?!? So I'm gonna show you the futuristic nails and make-up of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire District 5, Power look....
Hold onto your David Bowie posters because I gotta say...it's getting a little Ziggy Stardust up in here! I'm gonna show you how I did this, chalked my hair and even painted mah nails.

I was super excited because COVERGIRL reached out to ask me if I would want to re-create one of the Capitol Beauty Looks from one of the 12 Districts (CLICK HERE to see the all at the Capitol Beauty Studio), and I said YES, I 'd love to replicate a wild make-up look! So this is the look they gave me, keep in mind  I do not have a nice long neck, I'm not a model, and I do not have any of the same facial features as this lovely model....:and I have way more eyelid space than this beautiful lady!

 STEP #1: HAIR COLOR
Yours truly, as you saw in my blog sneek peek yesterday, with some major red hair chalking going on. SIDE NOTE: Since my hair is so fried bleached, and is so sponge-like porous, after I washed my hair is was the most disgusting PEACH color. No one wants PEACH colored hair! So I had to do my roots anyway, so I just gave my poor follicles a fresh "bleaching".

STEP #2: GRAPHIC (80's ish) NAILS
I used, all 5 colors shown here: (all from COVERGIRL)
1. Grapevine #310
2. Eternal Oceans #305
3. Constant Caribbean #290
4. Sulfur Blaze #600
5. Flamed Out #605
This nail design took forever, lots of frying time, masking tape, more drying time, more masking tape!

And here's the look, so come watch me go form blonde, regular me..to this look, in the video below!
I used all the Hunger Games Capitol Collection from COVERGIRL to do this look, here's what I used:
EYES:
Ink it! Aqua Marine Ink
Enhancers: Tropical Fusion
LiquilineBlast: Blue Boom Eye
Flamed Out Shadow Pot: Red Hot
Flamed Up Curl Mascara: Very Black Blaze
Smoky Shadow Blast: Mauve Smolder

FACE:
Clean Foundation
LipPerfection: Temptress (forehead)

LIPS:
Flamed Out Shadow Pot: Red Hot
LipPerfection Lipliner: Passion
LipPerfection: Eternal & Delish
Clean Liquid Makeup: Natural Beige

Now come watch me slap all this on:

Huge hugs and make any requests for the next costume look you want me to do below, your virtual BFF Kandee

PS. And tweet me what you think of this look with #CapitolCOVERGIRL and @kandeejohnson

Huge colorful HUGS!
