How to Highlight Cheekbones Like a Pro!

People always ask me how I get a "dewy" skin look even though I make-up on...(foundation, concealer, powder...all that jazz)...and how I highlight my cheekbones!
So here's my Pro tips for highlighting those cheekies and a bonus nose slenderizing and straightening trick!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
cream highlighter (I've tried so many, and these are  the ones I've tested on tv and film shoots, in magazines and in HD, and on location for live appearances on tv and weddings...and these are the ones that look amazing..not all crazy sparkly and glittery!)
~I love SHELL (cream color) from MAC (Shell is great for medium to dark skin tones) a soft beige pink
~Pearl (cream color) from MAC is good too (great for more fair skin) a light gold with icy shimmer
~SIN from Urban Decay is gorgeous too! A beautiful Champagne color.
And remember my "make-it-last" rule-
WHENEVER YOU USE A CREAM, YOU NEED TO LOCK IT IN PLACE WITH A POWDER ON TOP
My Favorite powder highlight colors are:
MAC Iridescent Loose Powder in SILVER DUSK- a pinky beige with silver shimmer-
*great for pale to medium skin tones
MAC Iridescent Loose Powder in Golden Bronze - a golden brown with bronze shimmer
*great for medium to dark skin tones

And this is the best make-up brush for applying a highlighter...
A Duo Fiber (it will probably be made of Taklon) Make-Up Brush~ it will give you the lightest application, which is essential for highlighting

WHAT TO DO: (besides watch the video below!ha ha ha)
STEP 1~ First apply your foundation like normal. Do any contouring...and blush....LAST THING
YOU PUT ON...think of it as the sprinkles on top of the icing!
PAT your cream highlighter onto the top of the cheekbones and down the center of the nose (as I show in the picture above in the hot pink areas)
STEP 2~
Apply the loose highlight powder on top of the cream with a Duo Fiber Brush
It's FAST, EASY and adds so much glowy, dewy, cheekbone goodness!

Do the steps in the video on the bridge and plane of your nose, to make your nose look straighter and more symmetrical too!

Now watch me demonstrate how to do it!

Hi Kandee,
I know you're really busy especially with your "cupcake in the oven :p" I love that expression!!
But I wanted you to know that you have a very large fan base in Europe, and I know you went to London in october, but I couldn't be there and I was very disappointed :( do you think that after the baby is born you will come back?
You should a glaminar in Paris that would be awesome (french fans love you!!)
Lots of love from Paris

Does it matter how big the duo fiber brush is? There are a few different sizes of them on the crown brush website and the smaller they are, the cheaper.

If you're looking for something AMAZING that is drug-store affordable ($6-7), try CoverGirl's Trublends Minerals. It's a powder, yes, but it stays on my skin very well.

IF I'm headed to a looong day outdoors (or somewhere I'm likely to get a bit "weathered") & really want that extra staying-power, however, I just put a TINY bit of moisturizer on a sponge, moisten the wanted areas ever so slightly & dust the powder where I put the moisturizer.

It's so lovely & shimmery, but in a subtle way, not glittery.

I wear Trublends Minerals in 430 - Shimmering Sands.

http://www.covergirl.com/beauty-products/face-makeup/blush/trublend-minerals-blush

Take into account, however, that I am suuuuper white. I love my pale white skin, but as a highlighter (more than a blush) for darker skin tones out there, it should still be great.

Hope you'll try it out. ^_^

I love all of your videos so much!!! I always rush to the MAC store to pick up more and more stuff! Im not sure if you ever watched Rock of love, but there was a girl on there a few years back named Kristy Joe Muller that was soooooo beautiful (her myspace has better images of her face rather than just google-ing her),... could you do a video on how to achieve her look?

Thanks! :D

Ms Kandee!
Can you please please tell e if you know of ANY natural or Organic cosmetics that are actually quality enough to purchase? I know they are generally too waxy or not pigmented enough. My skin is basically allergic to anything that isn't natural or organic. Foundation, concealer, cream blush/highlighters? Anything you've tried and liked would be great! Love ya! (=^_^=)

Hi Kandee, I was wondering if you could help me. I do my makeup everyday and have tried doing the highlight with shell as you say. The trouble is that I have very large pores and it seems to make them even larger. Is there any product out there that helps minimise pores? I would greatly appreciate your help as I am a little desperate. Thanks a million and all the luck in the world with little cupcake. Love you lots.

a note on all the haters... forget them! I love watching your videos. I follow you on twitter and facebook and have learned so much from you. I have bettered myself not only with make up but as a whole just from watching your videos and reading your blogs. You are such an insightful person and I feel that the only reason why people right such hateful things is because they are insecure. I used to be a pretty religious person but after my grandpa (who was also my best friend and only grandpa) passed away last year and none of my christian friends (aside from my best friend/roommate) said anything about it. They all knew how close we were and I had to take a week off of college to come home and be with my family. It was hard for me to function in daily life and even worse feeling alone because it was like no one cared. After reading you and your sisters blogs I know that that doesn't matter. God was there for me and I was never alone after all. I have started going back to church and began reading my bible again and I overall I feel like a happier person. My point in all this ranting is that aside from your make up tips, following you on youtube, facebook, and twitter has made me feel beautiful on the inside as well. The people writing hurtful things haven't found this part of themselves yet and don't see how amazing you truly are. I know you receive a ton of comments and emails every day but I just wanted to let you know that you are amazing and have influenced my life in more ways than one. Try to think about the fans like me that love you and try to block out the negative comments. You don't need that stress with your little cupcake coming into the world soon :) Thank you for everything! xoxox

LOVE your videos Kandee. You are an inspiration.
Hey can you do a video on CARING for all your wonderful make-up brushes? How often do they need washing? Any tips?

OMGosh Kandee I never figured out what I was doing wrong with my highlighting until I watched your video. I was always highlighting too far below my eyes, so it just made my face look shiny!

Now I'm doing it the right way! :)

Dear Kandee,

I saw a photo of Taylor Swift with the most beautiful makeup. I wonder if you could do a tutorial for it. I don't know how to attach the photo but here is the link to the website with it.

I have a question... What would you say was the best "cheap" brand of make up? I love M.A.C. but I can't always afford it. Maybe you could do a video for something like that. Just throwing out ideas :) Thanks for all your wonderful/helpful make-up hints.

Kandee,

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do a video of the look you are wearing in this video!!! It is the perfect "done but natural" look. Pretty-pink-sparkly-shimmer please!!!!!!

Thank you!

Is it okay to use a sheer powder to lock in the highlighter and contouring colors as opposed to using a separate powder for each one? Just wondering because good quality make up can rack up quite an expense and it would be cheaper to only need to buy one product as opposed to two.

P.S. I know I also commented the same question on Youtube but it got covered up pretty quickly so I didn't know if you would see it.
