sometimes our thinking is more disabled than our bodies

sometimes when we feel discouraged, hopeless, or like giving up....
something comes along, that will change or thoughts and heart....

Oscar Loreto, who's in the picture above...and who filmed and edited the video below, was born without hands and the lower portion of his left leg. He is a hero and inspiration...with so many things, seeming to say, "you can't"...he's made it in the world saying, "I can!"....

We've all felt like the road before us is too hard, and I've made small things seem hugely, impossible, then I listen as Oscar tells me, it can take him up to 15 minutes just to tie his shoe, I realize how small my thinking has been. He's accomplished so much, without even thinking that it would be hard, or "he can't". Oscar is kind, funny, has an captivating personality, and a great laugh...and his story will move you heart into a new level of hope! Thank you Oscar!

I am honored to share with you the inspiration of the , ENABLED PROJECT...a hope filled, collection of images, by Ian Ruhter, with amazing stories that will remind you, "You are ABLE to do anything!"....and that our disabled thoughts are the only limitations that we have.

when you feel you can't.....

(This is my new friend, Oscar, skating. But what you may not see in this photo, is that he doesn't have a left foot to put on the board, and he is missing what we take for granted everyday, both of our hands!)
how many times a day do you grab things with your hands a day? Pulling the blankets off you in the morning...brushing your teeth...turning the doorknob in your room....and the list goes on.....

Oscar was born without his hands, and a left foot and lower portion of his leg.....but what he can do with determination in his mind...won't stop him from anything...even if it means some mornings it takes him 15 minutes to tie the laces on his shoe...

I had the most amazing interview with Oscar...his story sets every thought that tells you, "it's too hard or impossible"....free to fly out the door and fills you with the hope that....in this life, there may be obstacles....but NOTHING...., no disability of your body or disability in your thinking, needs to ever stop you from doing what you were created to do!

I did an interview with Oscar (just wait...he's an incredible, inspiring, and sweet human being!), and with my good friend, Ian Ruhter , who has been working on his art & inspiration project, called ENABLED...which shows your heart and mind...the incredible stories of some (what society calls "disabled") of the most enabled and inspiring people.

These people were born with missing limbs, went through horrific accidents, or suffered illnesses that took away their limbs....but they have done more than the average person...without waivering!

Ian is an amazing photographer, that shoots for world famous brands...he has devoted his heart and energy to this project (to bring hope, awareness, and inspiration to a world that's in need of a little "enabling of your dreams"). He has poured his own saving into this, and is ready to show you this amazing story of hope...

yay I got to play photo shoot!

some days in life....you have more fun than normal...this was one of those days....(and we all know I could use a fun day! ha ha ha)
being creative and having fun..it felt more like play and fun than anything else....

I do a lot of make-up looks...and I wish I had someone to show, or go somewhere....or wish it was for a photo shoot....and I'm just making youtube videos...so I go and just wash all my hard work off....and start a new one....ha ha ha

I have a very dear friend, Ian Ruhter...who happens to be an incredibly talented photographer...and I always feel so honored when he photographs me! Ian works for huge globally famous companies...that pay him more than I ever could...so I feel so "fancy" whenever Ian wants to let me stand in front of his talented, picture-taking self.
Ian is amazing...and so are his photo projects....his work makes your heart feel the beauty in the image. And he has taken some of the most amazing photos with lil' ol me in em...you can scroll through his blog and see them...from the bubbles one to the balloons in NY...to the brooklyn bridge (one of my fav's...and not because I'm in it...ha ha ha)...I am honored to get to "creative play" with him....and I am honored to have him as a friend.
I wish I lived next door to him...so I could run over and we could play photo shoot everyday! He is so brilliant...and this was probably the most fun I've ever had, having my picture taken...he makes me laugh a lot...so there was a lot of kandee-laughing faces...ha ha ha


I wanted to do a modern-colorful-kandee-twist, with Marie Antoinette as my inspiration. (I filmed the look too...so I'll edit it as soon as I can)...to know me is to know I love color...and this shoot was very kandee-ful! (ha ha ha)

i even had to take the eyelashes off so we could go to lunch...ha ha ha....I'm brave with my looks...but....ha ha ha ha

I'm in ELLE magazine!! woo hoo!

very fun things: going to the grocery store...seeing an ELLE magazine and then seeing your picture inside! HOLY SMOKES!!! I feel like telling everyone around me...but that would probably just make me look really crazy! BUT I'm inside a magazine!!!! Who would've thunk it! hee hee

Woo Hoo...I'm in ELLE magazine!!! There are different covers of this issue with Katie Holmes on the cover...when I bought mine she had an orange dress on....so don't be alarmed when you go out to buy a stack of 20...ha ha ha ha just kidding.....

Why:

This shoot is for the "launching", "catapulting", "sparkly explosion", of my new webdazzzler AKA website!!!!

I am so excited to show it to you all...I feel like it's show and tell at school and I hope you all will love it!

This shoot was so fun...I loved all the people that worked on it...I loved the colors....I loved the blue in the background....like the beautiful turquoise sky that's in old cowboy paintings!

Ian Ruhter, is an amazing photographer that sees things in ways you'd never imagine. He has made some of the most moving and captivating images...He made me look pretty in ways that I've never seen a good picture of myself...! I feel so honored to have Ian photograph me, he is going to be one of the most moving, powerful, and brilliant photographers in the world...wait til you see what else he's working on....

We did a little test photo shoot a few weeks ago.....

and I felt super self conscious....that I wold look funny, fat, weird, ugly...not be able to look nice or thin...all the things we hear in our minds every day.  And lo and behold.....I looked like all of the things I was concentrating on not looking like! GREAT! I felt horrible as was a little nervous that I would make more ugly looks....

This shoot was a bagillion times better....I felt happy, more confident, and safe in the arms of all the other people there working to do all this work, to make  lil' ol' me look good!

I could feel when the self-conscious me would creep up....and the second I said, "I don't care....just have fun..."...then that's when the good pictures happened....

I think it's the same in life...when you are worrying about all the bad things that could happen and feel bad about yourself....it just gives you, unhappy photographs of life....

and when you say, "no i don't care what everyone will think...or say....I will just do what's in my heart...what really feels fun and ME!!!!" That's when the true you comes out to say hello, and shines brighter than anything else....and everyone loves it!

I couldn't wait to show you guys the pictures from the shoot...these are just the funny ones...wait to you see the rest......I really felt pretty...which is what every girl wants....and from a girl who always thinks I look horrible in pictures and picks out all my flaws....the bump on lip, how I smile too big, how I show my gums when I smile that big, to how I don't like my nose, and my teeth...and so on....that's a wonderful feeling...to not just look pretty, but to FEEL pretty!

The feeling is what makes you walk with a little pep in your step! ha ha ha ha

It's my cake and candles day!!!!

( I am in this city...I heart LA)
I was just talking to my sister about our favorite birthday...and mine was a tie...

either my dress up party where we all had fancy dress-up clothes, sashes (like you get when you are in a pageant), and my mom made a cake that looked like a girl in a dress...her dress was the cake...and a little plastic "barbie" looking doll stuck up, out the top...

or my mom, who is creatively awesome, made me a Hawaiian Party, with colored grass skirts, she painted a monkey on a palm tree and cut the face out, so you'd stick your face there and look like a monkey on a tree...and we had lei's to wear....

(note: all of those were before I was 12! ha ha ha)

someday I want a surprise party......I will leave lists of all y friends names and numbers lying around...ha ha ha ha ha

I don't know what I will be doing yet for today...but I hope it is a fun day!

here's a little present for all of you...some eye "candy"....this photographer is one of my dear friends....who is brilliantly talented beyond belief...he is going to be one of the world's most amazing photographers.  What he envisions and creates is astounding....all of the pictures you're going to see are basically woven into themselves on film...not all photoshopped digitally....they are incredible works of art..and my fav is the one with the model and the LA skyline at night, sideways....i'd blow it up on my wall billboard size! 

enjoy the visual stimuli...it is a gift from me to your eyes.....happy day to you all!!!!
