i had just finished uploading the blog I typed...called my mom...and went to grab one of my computer cables...I walked by the glass wall next to the sliding glass door....my knee, or shoulder, or something bumped against the glass window....
it sounded like a hundred plates breaking on the floor...
I looked down and saw blood all over....and my leg missing a huge chunk of skin, all around my leg, and I could see down to the bone!
If the huge piece of glass hadn't stopped at the bone it would've cut my whole leg off!
The floor was covered in blood, and many towels were soaked in blood, my shoe was filled with blood....people could hear my screaming from the building across the street.I had worked on The Hair Battle Spectacular Show the day before and this was the down- day with no filming, I went back to work on the show the neck day- and one of the first questions I asked the paramedics was, "will I be able to work tomorrow?"... he just laughed and said they'd help me! ha ha
...I took a picture and posted it to facebook...it really did help distract me from crying...

my leg wrapped in a billion towels...the blood had dried when they went to take it off....and I yelled so loud, they said they thought I was in labor in the hallway (but I told them, I've already had 3 kids...and this hurt worse than any of the labors pains I've ever had!)

this is a picture of the glass left on the bottom of the window, you can see the blood still on it....they covered the window up with wood and tape when I got back....they even upgraded my room to a penthouse suite that is really fancy.....i would rather have my leg better and the little room though! They were glad to see that I could move my toes, and I would be able to use my leg like normal.
I had to have x-rays to make sure the glass sheet didn't sever my bone...
they had to call in a specialist to see how to re-attach my skin... we were there from 2pm until almost 9pm...and for at least 1 1/2 hours I didn't have any pain medication....they said I was "really strong" and couldn't believe how tough I was....there was a man with a small laceration that was screaming his head off....and I almost had my leg cut off AND was doing good....
I hadn't eaten anything all day, and I couldn't eat because they said the medicine would work better with an empty stomach.....and I could only have some ice chips...
UCLA has the nicest staff of nurses and doctors....the amazing doctor, Anne Schmidt, took 2 hours to sew my lag back together...she was a perfectionist, and we laughed and talked about cupcakes...and she said she couldn't believe I was laughing and talking about desserts!

She did such an amazing job! I can't believe how she put my leg back together! They said I will need plastic surgery to make my leg look normal again...but at least I can move my toes and walk on it!
I have to take a lot of medication due to how severely the glass cut my leg, infection could be really bad and the pain is excruciating. It feels like lighting bolts of pain and like a knife is stuck in my bone.
I am so thankful that I am ok, and that it didn't cut my neck or face, the glass missed my femoral artery, which could've been real bad!
I am so thankful that I'm ok...and I know that there are people and little babies that are in so much more pain....I pray for all the little babies and kids that are in pain or hurt, that God would comfort their little hearts and their pain...
I have crutches, because I can't pull on the skin...and it feels like shooting pain goes up my leg when I put pressure on it!
My sweet friend, Tessa picked me up, she even had to go through all the traffic causes by them shutting streets down because Obama was eating in Beverly Hills! She took me to Diddy Riese, an amazing place to choose your own "cookie" ice cream sandwich, I picked white chocolate macadamia nut cookies and espresso chip ice cream..... We had thai food, shared hot tea, and a Thai Tea (one of my fav drinks) at Mr. Noodle in Westwood.
....it is 2:49am...it's been a long day....
there's any almost eaten creme brulee cheesecake next me...
can't keep my eyes open...
I 'm so glad that nothing worse happened...and I pray for all the people that are going through much worse things than me...

Get a lawyer girl that is mega bucks. I know that sounds bad but an upgrade to the penthouse is not enough for the severity of your injury. I hope you are feeling a little better. I fell after having major knee surgery when I was 18, gouging the flesh from just below the knee cap, I can still remember the pain so am amazed at how brave you are. Try not to do too much too soon. Oh Kandee, you really got hurt, I pray that you recover soon. You are so strong, and God always puts strong and humble people through tests. Landee, Those look nasty and I hope your recovery is well, but I suggest blurring the numbers on your braclet or removing the picture. I work for a hospital, and anyone can forge document and use your Insurance. We take great pains to shred any documents that are not pertenant to the permanent file with personal information. Hope your not into much pain, or hope they give you great painkillers.

holy moly! i cant believe the glass cut you like that!! geez!! i hope it heals well! keep it clean and take the antibiotics they give you!! and vitamin E oil helps with healing and scarring. i love you !!!

I remember when I picked up this huge, glass bonsai holder. There was a hairline break in the glass, which I wouldn't have noticed. When I picked it up, it fell apart in my hands, and there was glass everywhere!!
I received a laceration on my hand, and I thank God that it didn't slice my wrists etc...
Now, I'm pretty afraid of glass, and if I'm near glass, I just remember the huge crashing sounds and I'm dead on my feet lol.

Kandee please help. My heart feels like it has literally been sliced up, like your leg! What is a girl supposed to do when a guy takes her out on dates, sweet talks her, pays her compliments, etc. and basically makes the girl like him, but deep down she knows that the only reason he's doing all of that is so that he can try and get sex out of her? Do guys really go to all that effort if all they want at the end is sex? Or is it possible that they actually do like the girl? PLEASE HELP, desperately need an outside point of view!

OMG baby girl!!! im SO GLAD ur ok and it wasnt anything SUPER severe. Ur rite, cutting that artery would have meant BIG trouble! Its a good thing ur honey was there to help u. AND hes and EMT! My hubby is an EMT n with my accident prone butt TRUST me its a good thing. Ur a strong, beautiful and LUCKY lady. I know ur gonna heal fast, with as little pain as possible n will be leapin off the tallest buildings with ur new bionic leg in no time! take care of u sweety. Rememeber, dont touch it with dirty hands, change the dressing regularly, keep it elevated to reduce swelling, and keep movin ur feet and toes.

Oh my God. I sincerely hope you're okay! I canNOT imagine the pain you're in, but I'm so thankful that nothing horrendous occurred like nerve damage or even losing anything! Bobby - take good care of her. She's precious! I hope you two REST, rest, rest! And if it helps at all (I'd actually check with a doc on this), taking cayenne capsules is a natural painkiller. That's the basis of Tigerbalm, Icy Hot, and arthritis creams (capsaicin from peppers). BE CAREFUL!

I meant to look at what happened to you the other day! I got to see it just now. I will be praying for you.I know what you're going though. I almost lost my pinky on Thanksgiving about 4 years ago or so opening a can. I was forcing it open with a knife and the miracle blade shot up and sliced my pinky. I saw the blood shooting out of my finger and I was hot and about to pass out. But I went to the bathroom to pee cause I was so shocked. My family was screaming cause I kind of hit them all with the squrts of blood. No one wanted to touch me so I had to hold my finger myself. It happened so quick, we were all in shock. I almost lost my pinky too, and I'm an artist its hard to hold a pencil if you don't have a pinky. I still can't feel my pinky fully but over the years I think the nerves are improving and I'm regaining feeling little by little. I regret that I never took pictures. I didn't cry either...oddly I felt excited looking at my insides hanging out of my body. I wonder what my soul would look like if I could see it?
I will be praying for you to get better. You will get better.

Needless to say...you must have been very very strong!

Hey Kandee! I hope you're doing better, and that the pain has subsided a bit, just wanted to let you know to avoid seafood at all costs while your leg is healing! that includes fish, shrimp, lobster, crabs etc, well maybe the fish is ok, but from what my mom tells me, shrimp, lobster, and crabs make your skin keloid wayyy bad! in my opinion, i think shes right, cause i have a scar on my hand and when it was healing, she didn't allow me to eat shrimp or any seafood, and its a flat scar thats barely noticeable, while my brother has one on the back of his thigh that has keloided, and during his healing period, he ate lotssss of shrimp, so just wanted to share my knowledge, best of luck, my prayers are with you, stay strong!

HoLY shit!! sorry all i can say it looks very severe but I must say you did manage everything very good, on the youtube video you looked very calm(probably cause of the medicine) but still you looked calm which in these cases of emergencies is always the most important matter fell better kandee!!

I'm thankful that your leg was fixable and that you didn't cut any major arteries! I'm also glad you were in LA and got some great care at UCLA's hospital. I know they would take good care of you. Also if you do need plastic surgery on your leg (even though some wounds heal to faint scars after a couple of months), you are in the right town for that procedure! :) All my love, and I am astounded by your braveness. Anyways, I wish you a speedy recovery. I hope your leg gets tons better super fast. Get one of those pillows that has the little beads in it and squeeze it if you are in pain. I got one when I had my surgery and it helps so much. I still use it.

I watch your videos often as you are a constant ray of sunshine and goodness in mine and so many people's lives. As so many other's before have said you are handling this all with amazing braver, courage and strength.
One thing to remember as you heal; no matter the makeup, the look, the clothes, the smile, nothing is more beautiful than the strength and humanity you have displayed through this. While you may seek ways to hide it, you should also wear any scar as a badge of honor. Severed leg and all you continue to be one of the classiest and most beautiful women out there. I only wish that my meager words somehow reach you, and they give you a tiny fraction of the inspiration you've given me.

I couldn't view these pics for the longest time... It did make me feel ill. It looks like a shark attack! I can't believe the things that happen on a normal day, and then they made you wait so long. I would think it was traumatic enough to get immediate attention. Hope you heal fast!

I have been watching your videos for sometime now and love them!!! but I just wanted to say that I am praying for you, and it was awesome how you got through it! : )
My dad and I were in a motorcyle accident August 1st last year... I broke my femur and tibia and my dad ended up losing his foot because he stuck it out into the car that hit us. In the end it saved my life... anyways, the point of this is to just say that I know some of the pain that you were going through (I got to get titianium rods and screws in upper and lower leg, yippee). oh! and that I watched a bunch of your videos in the hospital because they made me smile!! : ) You handled it incredibly well, and it was 1) super scary to see that you were hurt, but 2) in the end great to see how you made it through it.

Oh, one other comment. I read some others that said get a lawyer to sue. Everyone hates lawyers and make fun of them until they need one. If I understand correctly, you bump into a glass wall and it shatters and almost kils you? Or cuts your leg off? Let me ask you this question, if the plate of glass hit your neck and killed you, would your family be seeking a civil suit for your death? Or, would your family just do nothing? I think as you reflect, the upgrade is an attempt to appease you. No glass wall should shatter from a bump and why is a wall glass anyway? I live in Alaska and that is about useless idea I have ever heard. What next, glass floors? Seek legal consultation at the very, very least. You have only a limited amount of time to seek a civil action. God bless.

Kandee I am so happy that for the most part your okay! It's sweet that your worried about all of the people that have it worse than you do but honey that's a really bad cut and you can be upset that you are hurt so bad without feeling guilty about it because people have it worse than you. You will be in my prayers and on my prayer chain at curch. This is a big thing so take care of yourself and take all the time you need to heal. I have had 4 kids and I bet that hurt way more than labor pains. The photos did make me throw up but that's a small price to pay to be able to leave you this message of love and prayers!!

I wish you a full, pain-free recovery! Well, as pain free as it gets...I know how painful that must be. Just keep taking medicines as prescribed and do what they tell you to do. Make sure you wiggle your toes and feet every so often to keep circulation up. I'm not very surprised how well you were taking the stitches and having your leg cut because from your videos and personality, I can tell you're a very strong person. I'm a nurse in California {waves} and I see grown up men scream for little itty bitty tiny cuts. Your cut is by far the biggest I've seen in my experience. I'm sure they probably gave you either morphine or dilaudid for pain medicine. Those seem to help ALOT! I wish all the best and pray for a speedy recovery.
Kandee, you are the most positive person I´ve known from the webworld. So happy, full of life and perfect at what you do, not being afraid of sharing. A few months ago, a friend of mine had a terrible accident, near some rocks at the beach, and he almost died for not having medical attention. My brother broke his neck Friday night and is now paralyzed from the chest down. So I'm glad you haven't lost that ability...it's really frustrating watching someone you love and not being able to help them. But through it all we all come out a little stronger and a little wiser. Uuuhh Kandee, when I was 16 I had nearly the same accident. I was looking the same like you and some of my tendons were cut through. I am so glad that we have our own adrenaline against the pain and modern medicine, otherwise my toes would hang out together ;)
It's been 17 years since that and time heals very well and fast, so
get well soon, and always remember, scars are very sexy!

Get A LOT of rest, I am so glad that your boyfriend was an EMT. YOURS is MORE worse than mine b4 when I used to work at a UPS warehouse(as a package handler to unload ALL packages out to put on the belt and then the truck door slammed down...stupid driver didn't check the pulley was broken b4).
