World's best crepe recipe!

i found a crepe recipe...that has become quite a problem...
i whipped up a batch the other night at 10:30pm!!! and what would some crepes be without some homemade vanilla whipped creme!!! ahhhhhh these are a sin....

you too can share in the ridiculous, taste bud delirium....i danced around the living room for an extra 30 minutes  just to cancel out the extra calories....

here lies:
 The World's Best Crepe Recipe:

1 cup milk (or I make it with 2 cups milk and forget the 1/2 cup water below)
1/2 cup water
2 table spoons butter (melted)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
MIX ALL THESE TOGETHER in a bowl (of course)
then stir in
1 cup of flour

in pan or griddle...put a little (or a lot...ha ha) of butter
pour batter then swirl pan so you cover then whole pan in a "paper-thin"-ish batter coating....cook until top side looks dry and bubbly..flip then fold in thirds, flop on your plate...put a little more butter, sprinkle with powder sugar....and then, if you dare...make this whipped creme...and go to flavor heaven!

 World's Best Homemade Whipped Cream
(yes this is my no-so-secret whipped cream recipe)

1 small carton of heavy whipping creme (about 1 cup)
2 teaspoons vanilla
(extra tip: put bowl and whipping cream in freezer for a couple minutes before whipping it)
whip together with mixer on med-hi speed until it start to form peaks
add in slowly
2 tablespoons of powder sugar

beware, you too, may develop a crepe addiction....for those overwhelmed by the goodness....i'll be starting a support group...or, i will refuse to buy any of the ingredients so i won't be tempted to make them..

i wish i had heavy whipping cream right now.......

the dangers of watching the Food Network means you get a blog post about crepes...and I have to wipe  drool off the keyboard....hungry and typing about crepes...kandee

DIY Make-Up Storage Idea

A Magnetic Make-Up Storage Board

My friends at Beautylish.com told me about this and said I could  share it with you guys....
so here's my kandee-take-on-this and some of my suggestions:

WHAT YOU NEED:
Old Wooden Frame without glass
One sheet of metal cut to frame insert size (they got theirs cut at Home Depot and used 22 gauge steel)
Gloss/Enamel Spray Paint
Old pill bottles (for brush containers),
if you're like me and don't have those, use plastic cups from the dollar store

Spray glue or regular Elmer's Glue
Magnets (available at your local craft store)
Glue gun
One yard of thin fabric

First:
I think this is a great idea if you have just a few pieces of make-up...however if you are like me...you'd need a billboard for all your make-up...or at least a blackboard! ha ha

then I'd spray-paint it this color or gold (i love gold spray paint):
(or any color that's your favorite...even this frame would be fun!)
You can get cheap and cool ornate framed from your local thrift store.

AND...spray paint a couple plastic cups, round pen &  pencil holders, or anything light weight you can use to hold brushes or eyeliners.
(i'd need sooo many cups!)

STEP 2:
Spray light coat of adhesive on metal then lay adhesive down,
onto fabric and fold fabric over board in back.
kandee-lightful idea: i'd use a fun, modern print like this...or even zebra or leopard print!
-you could use regular glue but it might be lumpy-

STEP 3:
Bust out your hot glue gun...
And glue magnets on the back of your cosmetic container of choice and on your new "brush holder"...and press down firmly.

STEP 4:
place fabric covered metal board into frame and secure with the little metal tabs
-hang your board on the wall or prop it up however you like and smack those products into this baby!
and you have yourself the "prettiest" picture of beauty goods!

I give this project a thumbs up for fun and creativity.

For me, I have too  much make-up for this! ha ha
and if you take your make-up with you or travel it might be a little tricky or heavy with the magnets
(i'm sure if you had to, you could pop the magnets off)

A huge big red lipstick kiss to my friends at beautylish.com for sharing this with me and letting me share it with you guys!

huge love and too much make-up to fit in a frame....your kandee

Don't worry I will be coming up with a good DIY make-up storage idea for those of us that need at least a blackboard for all our make-up treasures!

Barbie's in the house!

Barbie's on my wall is more like it!

I got asked where I got this Barbie painting (it's not an actual painting, but a giclee, it's like a fancy print on a canvas)...because it was in the background of a video....see:
there is this really cool store in downtown LA that sold vintage fun stuff and had all the Barbie painting in it...I used to go there and look at all the Barbie paintings because I loved them and thought my mom would love them too!

One day a friend said she had a surprise for me! It was this painting! I love it!
(me and little tiny, outside the vintage store...I don't know the name but they don't sell the paintings anymore. Which was the whole reason I took my mom there a few weeks ago. ha ha)

It is my only "big girl" painting that I own, besides paintings that I've done ...but somehow I don't think those count! ha ha ha

And what better to go with my hot pink couch...than a Barbie painting. I've had a hot pink couch in my house for over 10 years. Everyone loves the hot pink couch! when my hot pink cover got ruined and it was just plain white....it was no where near as fun! ha ha ha

to check out more of the artist who paints the Barbie pictures go to:

Wait til you see them, they are so cool and Barbie-fantastic.

happy Sundays and I'm typing this from my hot pink couch, your kandee

DIY T-shirt Cutting Fringe Necklace

Get out your old t-shirts because we're about to repurpose and recycle old shirts into a fun new necklace.
INSPIRATION:
I saw some necklaces (that were totally not a do-it-yourself ones)  I was inspired to make one out of an old t-shirt
fringe necklace (this was totally not a do-it-yourself) this one  sells for $595! youch!
mine cost: nothin', because this shirt was a hand-me-down
I saw some necklaces that I thought I could make out of an old t-shirt, without paying for an expensive one that someone made!

Even if you don't like this particular look, I hope it jumpstarts your creativity to think of new ways to re-use your old clothes! (I have more DIY fashion videos on the way, so if you don't like this one, maybe you'll like another look I'll be doing!)
Budget friendly make-overs for what's already camping out in your closet!

BEFORE
 AFTER
I left the fringe redonkulously long, to show you how you can wrap it like a scarf.
To wear it as a necklace I would cut the fringe into a triangle shape with the longest pieces in the center (about 8 inches) to shorter on the sides (about 4-6 inches).

I would totally wear the super long fringe, even if people think it looks like seaweed in this green! ha ha
But for those who want a more practical look, you can use a  more neutral color shirt and cut the fringe wayyyy shorter!
DIFFERENT WAYS TO WEAR THE LONGER FRINGE:
 wrap it like a scarf
wrap one side around your neck
 braid different sections
*you could even slide beads onto certain pieces to add some dazzle
knot different sections at different heights

Have fun...and as Patricia Field (the wardrobe stylist for Sex in the City & The Devil Wears Prada) told me..."wear what you love and is fun, and don't care what anyone thinks!".....

k
I want to thank all the people who left comments on youtube, even if you don't like this look, you still applauded the creativity and weren't disrespectful or rude! That's how I know when my true-kandee-fan-family  (you guys) have left me a comment, versus the random haters on youtube that leave rude and unkind comments!

You guys are the best and I love that you celebrate creativity, even if it's not your particular make-up or fashion, or hair look...!

You guys are awesome...hope you like this!

huge hugs and scissors, your kandee

Decorating on the cheap!

here's a peak into my house with a little cheap-chic tour of some of my favorite things in my house...
I bought these metal stars years ago at Marshall's for super cheap...they were really dark colors, like navy blue and dark green...
SOLUTION: I took hot pink spray paint to a few
and white spray paint to the one above...and took different color acrylic paints in turquoise, green, olive green and painted over the white with a stiff paint brush to get this one with a cool "vintage" finish.
real, live Orchids....I am so proud of myself that they are doing well.....I've heard Orchids are really hard to keep alive so I've always been scared to buy them. They were a gift and they are still going strong!
This is one of my favorites....it's a painting I did on a piece of scrap shelving wood. It's acrylic and oil stick in black...this has hung on many walls over the years.
I got this vase super cheap from Home Goods (it's like a super cheap place where you can buy all kinds of stuff they've bought from stores that didn't sell, for redinkulously cheap!)
These fake flowers I love...I some like this at Anthropologie for more dollars than I wanted to spend...then I saw these for cheap at Pier 1 Imports, and they can home with me.
I got the sparkly "flower vine" thing at Pier 1 too.
This little figurine is one of my favorites.....her and I met, many years ago at an antique store....she was only about $12...well, her and her boyfriend...he is not as adorable as she is though. He's still packed away in a box. And behind is an old candlestick I gave a fresh new life with some white paint and turquoise-wash paint over it.
And my bathroom...I saw vases like these in a picture from a fancy furniture store...then I saw these babies for super cheapo at Home Goods (I love that place!)...some didn't have the right lids..or one at all, like the one with the flowers in it...he didn't have a lid..so he got flowers! ha ha ha

So there's some of my Friday Favorite things....the home edition! ha ha ha

DIY Flower Ball Craft Project for you Room!

 I love Do-It-Yourself craft projects...
so it's time to fire up your hot glue guns...
hunt down some fake flowers...
and grab some styrofoam balls...because we're gonna make some romantic fantastic flower ball decorations to bring some girly, beauty to your desk, dresser, bathroom or bookshelf!
These are adorable in little girls rooms and in big girls rooms...mine lives on my dresser!

WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Styrofoam Ball
(any size you want)
You can get these at any craft store.
2. Hot Glue Gun & Lots of Glue Sticks
I got my Zebra Print Glue Gun at Michaels Crafts by ArtMinds for like $4.99
 3. Fake Flowers
(you can use a fun mixture of colors like these)
or big Peonies like these...
or you can just get a bunch of white roses like the one I have!

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Pull off all the flower blossom from the stem
-they just pop off when you pull on them-
so you are left with a bunch of green stems that look like this.

2. Start gluing the flowers to the styrofoam ball until they cover the whole ball...
you can glue them in a circle line around the ball or just start gluing them next to each other...as long as they cover the styrofoam it doesn't matter which way you start to glue them!

be careful not to burn your valuable fingertips!
AND VOILA...
your very own orb of floral-girly-ness!

me and my earrings and ear piercing story...

who knew when I went for round 3 of trying to get my ears pierced...
(every time they'd mark my ears with the pens...to show were to shoot em with the piercing gun...
I'd jump like it was the gun and not the pen)...
that my ears would finally stay pierced and I'd have so much fun mix matching earrings!

My ears never would heal correctly...
I'd finally take the super giant gold studs out after 6 months of putting the special cleaner on, twisting them like they instructed me...
I'd forget to put an earring in to sleep in...wake up and the sucker would be healed closed!

It finally worked...
and I laughed as a girl when we were in Florida told me:
"you know you have 2 different earrings on"...
I just kinda laughed....
"I know....I think it's more fun this way!"...
she just stared at me like I had glued fake vegetables to my hair.
enter my new fun earring fun....the chain-necklace-earring....
and yes, the first time I wore this, cupcake (aka my baby elyse)...grabbed it. No ear lobes were harmed. I got this at a store on Melrose, it was the only one left...all handmade...and pretty cheap too!

Fancy that?!? I also got my favorite feather earrings right off of Melrose at the Melrose Trading Post (the Sunday fleamarket at the high school there)...from my friend Cardi...who sold them there!
If you want to get a feather earring from Cardi go check em out at:
and then the other day I thought...it's so funny that we pierce a hole in our ears...to hang a little decoration to dangle from the sides of our head..ha ha ha...and it just seemed silly for a second!
