SECRET to PERFECT SKIN: PERFECT FOUNDATION

one of the number one questions I get is: all about foundations
so here is my FLAWLESS FOUNDATION APPLICATION on my sister (who makes me laugh all the time...I love this video...because this is how she's been since we we're little)...
HERE' THE LINKS TO ALL THE PRODUCTS I USED, TOO:

FIRST A PRIMER IS ESSENTIAL:
whether you have oily skin or wrinkly skin....I used the PRIMER to blur lines and wrinkles from COVER FX (Click HERE to see the link)
  • A primer makes your skin look extra smooth and flawless
  • It also makes your make-up stay on longer and look wayyyy better

NEXT FOUNDATION:
(I always use 2-  One in a shade slightly more yellow or golden than your actual skin tone (to cancel out the redness) and one 4-5 shades darker than your skin tone to contour and shade)
FIRST I LOVE:

Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation is a rich and luminous foundation offering full coverage while hydrating and protecting the skin. I use this foundation in Hazelnut Beige to apply all over.

THEN I used Make-Up Forever HD Foundation in 5 shades darker (don't know the number I used, it's worn off!)

CONCEAL THAT UGLY STUFF:

My FAV concealer is COVER FX Foundation (they call it a foundation, but it's so FULL coverage I use it as a concealer) I love this stuff, it's AMAZING!!!

CONTOUR, BLUSH & HIGHLIGHT:

For Blush I used: POSEY cream color from MAC (any pink will work)

For Contouring I used: BLUNT from MAC (any shade of non-sparkly, dark powder will work)

Highlighting I used:  SHELL cream highlighter from MAC with

Silver Dusk Powder Highlighter on top

LASTLY: I did a once over the eyelids to prepare them or shadow with SOFT OCRE paint pots from MAC

Now let's get ready to get perfect looking skin that will last all day!

thank you for this!!! Going to watch the video now ! :) Your sister is SO pretty and she has beautiful skin!!

Kandee, you say: "A primer makes your skin look extra smooth and flawless" ~if I already have good, clear skin then I don't necessarily need a primer, right? Just a thought. =) I guess when I do get a primer, I will use it only for the staying power that it provides. ^_^

I love your make-up videos, especially love seeing new ones popping up!!

My best wishes for your baby girl! Hugs from Greece!!!!!

I loved this video, and I didn't know that trick with foundation; using more yellow tones to cover the redness and darker tones to makes the face glow.
Thank you so much Kandee! <3

Kandeee, quick question!

How about Asian skin that tends to be more yellow? Should I look for foundation that has pink undertone to cover the yellowness? For example my skin is NC25. Should I look for the NW? Thankyouu! :D

That was awesome and made me laugh so much - "Not YOUR skin but every other woman's skin in the world" LOL. Happy holidays and impending baby - I never comment but follow both your blogs and your positive attitude is really helping me through some tough times in my own life.

Hi Kandee,

I wanted to know if you could make a little video on how you dress being pregnant. I am 7 months pregnant and I am getting bigger and bigger everyday! Actually, my belly is, because the rest of my body has stayed in pretty good shape (so far...). Still, most of my "old" clothes don't fit anymore but I don't have a lot of money and can't buy those expensive (and often ugly) maternity clothes. But still I want to look nice and sexy.
So, what do you wear? Where do you buy your clothes?
I love your style and your makeup videos are great!

Thanks a lot and take care of yourself, your beautiful children and your baby to come!!

Do you have any tips in finding the right shade foundation/concealer I am fair with yellow undertones and have a hard time matching, something might look good in sephora or mac but then when I get home it's either to orangy tan or too pale white.
Your the best

Kandee,
What was the loose powder you used to set the foundation and concealer? You didn't have it mentioned on your list of products you used on your sister!
Thank you!

First off, I was watching this video with my four year old and she said "Mommy that looks just like you." pointing to Kandee, it almost made me cry, what a compliment!!! Second, after Tiffany was talking for a bit and being silly my son said "She is like Dori from Finding Nemo." then when she referenced Finding Nemo he busted up laughing :)just love all your videos!!!

Wow, so many products here that I'm dying to try out! I've heard a lot of positive reviews for the mineral makeup. It took a long time to sort through everything! I hope you get a chance to try more products from this list. The ones that make the list are those I frequently use. Thanks for sharing.

I cannot believe so many people think your sister is so cute in this vid etc. I find her childish and very annoying and very distracting from the real subject. Has she always tried to spoil your thunder? Tiffany, grow up! It makes you look sad and needy. Kandee, thank you for all your great video tips, they're always inspiring and you do them so well. I'm sure your sister's very nice as your sister, but her childish needy antics really interupts the video.

Kandee: I want to thank you so much for everything. I'm so glad I found your videos, you have taught me so much. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us.

I'm Cuban, I moved to the States about 8 years ago, and up until the other day I didn't know barely anything about makeup, I was the girl who either didn't put any makeup on at all, or would only put on mascara and lip gloss, that's as far as I went.

Yellow, green, blue, purple eyeshadow? Unheard of! Bow pencil, bronzer, fake lashes? Non-existent.

I'm always been really creative, I love just about every form of art out there, and I would certainly love to do what you do for a living, but I'm just now re-discovering how much I really enjoy it, and I now have I little bit more resources available to me as well.

I love color, patterns and textures more than ever and even my wardrobe has dramatically changed, roughly about 2 years ago pretty much everything in my closet was black, not necessarily because I was sad or depressed, but because I wanted all my outfits to go with everything and I've never been what you would call wealthy, lol. And you know that when it comes to makeup as well as other things, sometimes quality does make a big difference and after all, you usually get what you pay for, but I do what I can. You have definitely contributed to this change. :-)

I don't dye my hair often, (sometimes only once a year) but when I do, I get this line of demarcation between darker and lighter shades, and I wasn't sure why until I washed your video on how to properly dye your own hair at home (which is what I always do, since I've never had it done at a salon) and I had an aha moment when you mentioned one should always get non-permanent hair dye.

Also, I never, not once did I ever use lip liner or even concealer. Never had bangs before 'cause I wasn't sure how to cut them, specially 'cause my hair is really curtly, and again, whatever I can do myself instead of paying someone else to do it for me, I'm all up for it, lol. I'm really picky as well, so I rather only have myself to blame if things don't turn out the way I want them.

I want to thank you again, I love your videos regardless, whether you are taking about hair, tools and styling products, health and nutrition, makeup application techniques, fancy character tutorials, applying your sister's makeup or showing us your beautiful baby bump.

I happen to have a yellow flower rings exactly like the one your little sister gave you, I got it at Forever 21. :-) Keep on being so nice, energetic, happy, bubbly, funny, I think you have a great personality, and please, DO NOT, let anyone's comments get you down!

I hope you had a great holiday season and that your baby girl comes into this world as healthy as she can possibly be.

Good luck, take care, God bless, and keep doing and enjoying what you do, I know I speak for a lot of people out then when I say, we REALLY appreciate it! You truly are an inspiration!!!

Just stumbled upon your blog and have spent about 90 minutes reading and watching your videos. Some of the more helpful ones out there btw. Was wondering what your thoughts are about powdered foundations....more specifically bare minerals. I switched from liquid and creme foundations years ago because I couldn't stand the feel of something on my face and got tired of seeing 'my face' smear off on my clothes or anything else I came into contact with. The way you apply foundation looks flawless and beautiful, but I can't help but think it must also 'feel' heavy too.

Unknown said...

I was going to purchase this concealer, but have NO clue what color to buy it in. What color did you use?

Truly, your sister acts like a five-year-old. What a narcissistic brat - emphasis on "narcissistic." Please don't do any more videos with her. she's just ghastly.

Suyen said...

I find it so "interesting" that there's people who have absolutely nothing more to say other than: "Your sister is childish", like there's nothing else going on the video to focus one's attention on...

Anonymous said...

Sooooo.....WHAT was the "excuse me" thing about? That was creepy!

Unknown said...

Hi Kandee, you said in this video not to use foundations with pink undertones. (at least thats what i understood). I use NW20 in Mac or Creamy Natural in L'oreal foundation. In the summer i use L'oreal Sandy Beige. Everytime i go to a cosmetics counter they always tell me that i should use a foundation with a pink undertone, not a yellow undertone. what should i do? what colour should i be using then? and y do makeup artists always choose colours that completely wash me out. when i went to a clinique counter and bought the foundation colour they told me is an exact match...my boyfriend said i looked like casper the ghost. i thought there supposed to be professionals. anyways, NW20 is a good match for me but should i be using NC20 instead?

thanks, Sandra from Toronto, Canada
fyi, we spell colour like this, not like color so i didn't misspell anything
