10 years ago today, the beauty world lost some of it's sparkle...
Kevyn Aucoin, the legendary make-up artist, who not only transformed the faces of celebrities, but everyday women as well, and seemed to find not only the best in people, but the hidden beauty waiting to shine in each person...
Kevyn was and will be greatly missed and I can't believe it's been 10 years.Kevyn's books were and will always be such a source of inspiration, with not just just his amazing skill, but with the amazing way he saw beauty in people that was beyond their outside appearance.
(His books are make-up artist staples: The Art of Make-Up, Making Faces and Face Forward)
Calista Flockheart into Audrey Hepburn...
I never met Kevyn Aucoin...but I wish I had. I've only heard from friends who have met him, how amazing he was. I would love to tell him what an inspiration he was, is and will continue to be.
The day he passed away it truly felt the world of make-up lost a pioneer, a leader, and a true inspiration. I am so glad that he wrote his books...they are a like love letters of inspiration and beauty that will continue to carry on his love, message, story...and will continue to inspire.
If you've never seen his books...you must. They have been beauty staples...and for many years, rested next to my nightstand.
KEVYN AUCOIN QUOTES I LOVE:
"Perfection is boring. If a face doesn't have mistakes, it's nothing."
"Life is too short to spend hoping that the perfectly arched eyebrow or hottest new lip shade will mask an ugly heart."
"Today I see beauty everywhere I go, in every face I see, in every single soul."
inspiration and love, your kandee
Hi Kandee, I just bought his books. And they are art. I am so happy I bought them. And all my friends are drooling over the beautiful photos and want me to do their make up. I always loved to read tips and tricks (before Internet was born). I am now 43 and through your YouTube channel rediscovered my love for making my friends (and myself) look beautiful. So on behalf of my friends and myself I thank you for being my inspiration. And for guiding me to Kevyns work. Both you and him show that beauty is something anyone can achieve. But most of all: Beauty comes from the soul.
Love from the Dutch,
He was also my biggest inspiration to go into makeup artistry, he was incredibly talented, the things that the man could do with a makeup brush were unreal. I can remember looking through " making faces" when I was only 16-17 and saying " one day that is what i will do" and i did... Kudos to you for this today!!! :)
Wow, I had no clue he had passed away. I just found a book I wanted to purchase of his on how to achieve J Lo's glow a few months ago. You inspired me over the past few years and I found him, now it has that much more meaning for me. XOXO Evelyn
I remember buying his first book when I was a teenager. I was in awe.
I saw his book Making Faces & knew I had to follow my art heart. Then I found your tutorials - they put his work in more doable language for me! I am 53, and next week I will have my FIRST PAID makeup gig doing MU for a big stage production in Matin Co., CA the Mountain Play - Music Man! I get to work alongside MU artists from the SF opera and The LIon King - thank you Kandee! You have been my inspiration!!! Debfu1 (Debbie Fuqua, San Rafael CA
